The contract was signed on September 15, 2020. The treaty recognizes the sovereignty of each state, obliges the two states to exchange ambassadors and conclude bilateral agreements on various subjects, including visa agreements, and will enter into force as soon as ratification. The agreement was ratified by the Israeli government on 12 October and ratified by the Knesset on 15 October. Turkish President Erdogan deplored the damage caused to the Palestinians by Israel`s agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. In the meantime, the Turkish authorities have been asked whether, in their agreements to oppose Iran, they will join the VaE and Bahrain, but no official decision has yet been taken and no information is available on where Turkey sees itself on the new map of the Middle East powers. Gantz thanked Trump, Netanyahu and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the peace deal and said he was showing an alliance among Middle Eastern nations that wanted stability and mutual cooperation. He also showed Israel`s eternal desire to make peace with neighbouring countries in favour of him, while strengthening Israel`s image on the world stage and creating a better future for the region. Netanyahu, interviewed by journalists, admitted that negotiations with the United Arab Emirates were secret because the United States asked him to do so. Other leaders and groups, including the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, unanimously rejected the agreement, according to Al Jazeera.
Mustafa Barghouti, head of the Palestinian National Initiative, said they were not surprised by the recent actions taken by the United Arab Emirates and the fact that the Emiratis had never attempted to fight Israel. He added that this could encourage other nations to ignore the Palestinian issue. The head of the Palestine Liberation Front, Wasel Abu Yousef, said the agreement would only give Israel greater influence over its occupation. ANP Social Affairs Minister Ahmed Majdalani said they did not know the agreement in advance and that the UAE was bartering the others, while unilaterally changing the Arab world`s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This criticism is not unwarranted.
