„The Four Accords“ not only gave me the four chords by which I made small positive changes in my life, but the book also helped me understand the process of „domestication“ and how this „Domest“ shaped my belief systems. Thank you for sharing your point of view, Coleen. I always recommend all books written by members of the Ruiz family. Miguel Ruiz`s latest book (The Toltec Art of Life and Death) is a little different. He continues to teach some of the same lessons presented in his previous books, but in the context of a somewhat fictionalized report on his experience, when he was about to die after his heart attack. He looks back at events as he grew up, which gives more insight into his thinking. I`m also looking forward to Miguel Ruiz Jr`s next book, The Mastery of Self: A Toltec Guide to Personal Freedom. Miguel has already mentioned John:1 several times. For example, on January 1, 2012, he posted on Facebook, www.facebook.com/donMiguelRuiz/posts/10150478684012771) „The Gospel of John in the Bible expresses very clearly the power of the Word: `In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God.` Whatever language we speak, our intention is manifested in the word. Since I wrote this article in 2010, I have read all of Miguel`s books, all his sons` books and some of the books written by his apprentices, including the excellent Wisdom Book Everything Toltec. I had the pleasure of participating in a workshop led by Miguel and Jose. I continue to support the Toltec Road as a great way to live.
And that`s exactly what happened. I hope that this structure pushes you to take up this book, to learn one or two new things and to broaden your perspective. Do the teachings really indicate that there is no right or wrong, we do everything that makes us happy? But there is also another kind of „selfishness“ that simply means taking care of yourself and going what you want, without hurting others. I wrote about it in another PT post, „Good, neutral and evil selfishness.“ Thank you for your thoughts, Coleen. I think your decision not to get caught up in right-wing arguments is wise. If we are all artists, if we are artists through the interpretations of the world we create, then the judgments of law/false simply do not apply to our art. A painting of a tree is not the same as a tree, but we would not describe such an interpretive painting as „false“ or „lie“. The same goes for our artistic interpretations of life. Each of us creates a story that is true to us, and I think it is good to respect each other`s stories.
